Since howFar’s inception in
2004, our evangelical and humanitarian aid initiatives have focused on life
transformation in sub-Saharan Africa. However, we have not been blind to the
complex issues that developing nations face in our own region.
Diane Moffi, a
longtime board member of howFar Ministries and The How Far Foundation, has had a passion for sharing the gospel and serving
the people of Haiti and has led several teams to the impoverished island
nation.
Diani Moffi loving children in Haiti |
In
early 2015, the How Far Board of Directors recognized her efforts and
unanimously agreed to join her work by launching a new initiative called
howFarHaiti.
Her
first project was to lead a team to visit orphanages near Port au Prince. Scores of small independent orphanages lovingly
struggle to care for abandoned children, but because of few resources the
children are chronically undernourished, ill-clothed and uneducated.
Children wearing the Shoe That Grows |
Through your generosity, the howFar team shared Christ’s love with them, fed them, and provided shoes to 450 children! Not just any shoe – they received The Shoe That Grows. A durable shoe that expands as the child grows lasting them for five years! (See: theshoethatgrows.org and “Do Children in Haiti Really Need Shoes?” at howFar.org)
Feet are washed as they hear of Jesus |
Our goal in Haiti is to share the gospel of salvation with as many as God allows and to love them as we love ourselves.
howFar will you go?
