Each got a portion of 20 kgs of maize and 4 kgs of Aminika seed (maize seed). We had a little change that the church elders suggested that instead of buying beans let's use that funds to buy seed so when the plantation season comes they have quality seed to use. Apart from that we have agriculture officer who came to train them how to plant and use manure for better performance. It was a lovely day. And they said thank you for Christmas gift. Upon the assassination of the president in July 2021, gangs began to flex their muscles. They took over neighborhoods by force: killing, raping and burning down homes. Hundreds of innocent people were killed or injured. Ports of entry for fuel and international food aid have been under control of the gangs until early November, when the fuel depot was finally taken over by the Haiti National Police. Prior to this action, fuel was unavailable throughout Haiti except for black market fuel, which was selling for over $20 US per gallon. As a result of the gangs controlling these depots, people cannot get to market to sell their crops, manna packs for feeding programs cannot get to the children, hospitals have shut down due to lack of fuel for their generators, and cell service interruptions are a constant issue, also. Kidnappings are still happening everyday! Cholera is at epidemic levels with hundreds of people sick or dying recently.
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 12px;">

<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">As tragic as all these things are, we have a great God who has been with the Haitian people through all these trials. HowFar Haiti sponsored a 2-day marriage conference in February for over 100 people at the Mystery of God church in Cite Soleil. Everyone received a hot meal during the two days while learning about God’s plan for marriage, healthy nutrition and birth control. Unfortunately, this was the only trip we were able to make in 2020 so we worked extra hard with our folks in Haiti to make things happen!

Generators are a common thing in Haiti due to the lack of regular electricity. As you might imagine, a loud generator running during a church service can be quite distracting! We were able to raise enough money to purchase some solar panels, inverter kit and batteries for the Mystery of God church so they could hear the church service better. This church is a place of safety in a sometimes-volatile neighborhood in Port au Prince.

Additionally, throughout the year, howFar Haiti provided food, shoes and medical treatment for several members of the church and the children that go to school there. Food bags were distributed at Easter to every family in the church, approximately 75 families. Shoes were given out to children at the school. More than 20 families received assistance with medical/hospital bills and medicine. This is a huge blessing because in Haiti you cannot get medical attention if you don’t have money so we were thrilled to be able to help people be healthy!

howFar will you go?
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2206628238675383606.post-55963446005177861142020-04-14T11:30:00.000-04:002020-04-14T11:30:18.842-04:00Tanzania Micro Loan Program Provides Sustainability
