What's Up at The Foundation

The primary mission of howFar is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in the least reached areas of the world. That is how we, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind". (Luke 10:27)

Did you know we also have a way to obey the second command, "Love your neighbor as yourself"? (Luke 10:27)

That's what we do at The How Far Foundation. Water, education, food and agriculture...we help people do what they cannot do for themselves.

Second Annual howFar Golf Fundriaser

Join us May 14th at Bear's Best Golf Club in Suwanee, Georgia.


It's time to retire our worn out 2004 Toyota Wagon based at Taveta, Kenya. Our little car has traversed well over 32,000 kilometers of some of the most rugged terrain in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi - to take the gospel message to people who have never heard and "to love our neighbors as ourselves".


Our tiny car has taken us places that I never thought that we could get to.






This year we will raise the remaining $20,000 to purchase a new vehicle for our work in sub Saharan Africa.

Ngongo Expedition Funded!

In April 2010 we announced that howFar Ministries and The How Far Foundation had committed to reaching the unreached and unengaged Ngongo people group. To our knowledge, the Ngongo have not heard the gospel and that there is no one is working with them. Since our commitment in 2010, we have been praying for God to supply the funds for this important mission.

We are pleased to announce that howFar has recently received a directed gift of $25,000 for this mission.

The Ngongo are a small people group who inhabit the deepest forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. PeopleGroups.org reports the Ngongo as a “Category 1” on the Status of Global Evangelization Chart. A “Category 1” is described as Last Frontier and Unreached. There is believed to be no known evangelical believers among the Ngongo nor is there any active church planting.

The remote area where the Ngongo live is located in the Congo River Basin, which is in the world’s second largest rain forest. The area has no roads, so access to the Ngongo villages requires the use of a small aircraft, motorcycles and walking. This mission, planned for early 2013, will be howFar's most aggressive mission effort to date.

Three New Churches Planted

Koisaso is a Maasia Village in central Tanzania. It is a new area for the Maasia. They just migrated to the area last year from their ancestral lands near Arusha. Changing weather patterns near Mount Kilimanjaro have caused persistent and devastating drought. Much of their land has turned into a dust bowl. They walked - 21 days - to move their families and their herds to the new Koisaso grasslands. Grasslands that will support their way of life.

I had the thrill of visiting Koisaso in late January while in Tanzania. You may be asking, “Why was it a thrill to go to this remote Maasai village?” It was a thrill because Koisaso is our “grandchild”. It is home to a third generation church plant. The church we planted at Lake Jipe Orkung’u, Kenya (June 2005) planted Lossimingori, Tanzania (April 2007) who planted this new church at Koisaso, Tanzania. That makes them our “grandchild”. But the story doesn’t end there. Koisaso has two sister churches – Endarara and Mnyikwa, both planted by the Lossimingori church in 2011!

Our church at Lossimingori, pastored by Emmanuel Lazier, is a model for church planting. Pastor Emmanuel is our first indigenous pastor to graduate from a Bible College. He is following in the footsteps of his mentor, Pastor Reuben ole Tiges, of our Lake Jipe Orkung’u, Kenya church. He is leading his church to obediently fulfill the great commission and the result is what every missionary prays for - a Church Planting Movement. A CPM is defined as rapid church multiplication led by indigenous people groups. That’s what is happening in Tanzania and Kenya.

How did it all begin? In 2005 you prayerfully and financially supported us. You sent us and we planted two Maasai churches. Now, the Maasai of those two villages have planted dozens of churches. Hundreds have come to salvation and thousands living around them, from various tribes and tongues, have come to faith in Jesus Christ. That is why visiting Koisaso, our most recent “grandchild”, was such a thrill for me.

Recently we received this touching letter from the village for Lossimingori, Tanzania.

THANK U FOR GIVING US FOOD.

"Dear Mark, I greet u in the name of our Jesus Christ! Its our hope that u're fine and ur mission. The main reason for writing this letter is just to thank u for food provision. To be honest the maize u gave us has been a blessing to us. U served [saved] our life. As u have seen the photos, we expected 100 people but they came more than 400. That shows how big the hungry people.

Also Mark, I want to ask u that don't forget us because we still need u. Right now people are starving. Pray for us."
